Howdy fellow members! How has it been so far? Most certainly many if not all of us must have been through trying times this year but somehow outlived them, I am of course referring to our stags we now have... how they endured those harsh and radical weather conditions then managed to elude or survived those morbid, death-dealing poultry disease after all.
It must have been quite fulfilling for us to watch them stags grew each day from a helpless but sprightly day-old chick – progressively transforming into a formidable and intimidating warbird that we always wanted it to be.
At any rate, as we are now priming up our fighters, excitement is slowly building up in the air in view of the days dwindling down closer to the 3-stag, 7-stag and 5-stag derbies... that will take place at the New Talisay Sports Complex from mid–September to the 3rd week of October or starting about a month from now.
Come to think of it since CVBA's inception, no member ever ruled CVBA's stag derbies to cap the Breeder of the Year Award repeatedly. Someone was close to doing it but conked out in the last stage.
Simply put, gamefowl competition nowadays have reached a level wherein roosters being pitted are noticeably even in strength, skills, as well as lineage. Most certainly this is because practically everyone now have access to excellent broodfowls as well as the right knowhow on breeding, farm management, handling and conditioning – what is left for the taking now is most likely thatfactor of luck.
At present, like a gathering storm there seems to be that feeling of peculiar calm and quiet within CVBA's borders. A feeling that conveys anticipated thrill and electrifying episodes that await us come fight day.
The schedule for our 2008 CVBA stag derbies are as follows:

3-Stag Warm-up Derby : Sept. 18 & 20, 2008
Guaranteed Prize: Php 500,000
Format: 3-Stag on each day
7-Stag Main Derby : Sept. 23,25,27,30 & Oct. 2, 2008
3-Stag elimination rounds on Sept. 23, 25,27
4-Stag insurance round on Sept. 30
[3-stag elims will still be accepted]
[2 pointers & below during elims can choose to fight either on Sept. 30 or Oct. 2]
[2 ½ & 3 pointers will have to fight strictly on Oct. 2]
4-Stag championship round on Oct. 2
[no straight fights will be accepted]

[No straight 5 fights will be accepted except entries from out of Cebu City & Province]
[This derby is open only to members who participated in the 7-Stag derby otherwise an entry fee of Php 3,500 will be collected]

Breeder of the Year: Php 100,000 and Trophy
Handler of the Year: 30,000 and Trophy
Gaffer of the Year: 15,000 and Trophy
BAKBAKAN 10-STAG DERBY
Elimination Rounds: Oct. 30 - 3 stags
Nov. 6 - 3 stags
[Entries eliminated in Oct. 30 may re-enter on Nov. 6 w/ the same entry name]
Semi Final Rounds: Nov. 8 – 3 stags
Nov. 11 – 3 stags
[Entries eliminated in Oct. 30 and or Nov. 6 may opt for a straight 6 fights only on Nov. 8 using the same entry name(s). Points gained in the elimination rounds are however invalidated and cannot be carried over.
Insurance Derby: The 4-stag insurance derby thereof will be staged at the NTSC. Points below 5, 5 ½, and 6 need not go to manila for the championship round.
Championship Round: The Championship round will take place in Manilaon Dec. 5, 2008.
Only entries having earned 5, 5 ½, and 6 points are allowed to enter the Championship round.
Note: In regard to the Bakbakan 10-stag Derby ,
1) NFGB had earlier, provided the following:
● Guaranteed Prize - Php 20 million
● Out of which Insurance Prize will total -Php 10 million
● Entry Fee - Php 11 Thousand
Further details will be issued by NFGB in the very near future.
2) An amount of Php 20,000 will be given to every entry that qualifies for Manila and that said entry will actually go and fight in Manila for the Championship round. Provided further that said entry had qualified in the eliminations and semifinal rounds at the New Talisay Sports Complex.
3) The venue for all the CVBA stag derbies and the Bakbakan semifinals and insurance rounds will all be staged at the New Talisay Sports Complex.
